To celebrate, the theme of this year's Annual MAC Membership Show is... "XV."
Fifteen.. ANYTHING! inches, square inches, lengths, pounds, colors, icons, brush strokes, circumference, images, frames, fps, seconds, minutes, words, years, times, opportunities, cents worth, percent, shots, chances, minutes of fame, acres, illuminations, bars, beats, excuses, solutions, ways, walls, traces, slides, shades, hooks, tools, ideas, dollars, celebrations, issues, hands, works, grains, pains, threads, treads, paths, galaxies, pages, steps, phases, reasons, movements, signs, head, signals, watts, originals, copies, rpms, mphs, winks, pints, points, love, lovers, interpretations, scenes, friends, degrees, less, links, limits, windows, directions, calories, combinations, punches, count, stone, score, caliber, penny, lashes, angles, stanzas, demerits, syllables, voices, variations, truths, thoughts, perceptions, flavors, ducks, feet, commandments, monkeys, episodes, consternations, sternutations, eructations, folds... whatever. Where does your mind go when you think "Fifteen?"
The exhibit will open Saturday, August 1st with a festive Quinceañera theme reception from 5:30 to 7:30pm. The exhibit will run through August 29. Plan to attend the opening, whether you are or are not an artist! It will be a FANTASTIC Party!

We are making the opening party a festive Quinceañera themed event. Cantina Laredo is graciously donating the food. Mixing Bowl Bakery is making us a multi-tiered cake, and some of us will be dressed in our Quinceañera best loaned to us by Magda's Bridal! Entrants must be or become members at the time of submission. New members are always welcome to join! Artists are invited to submit works in all media from visual to performance art and literary reading. Invite a friend to join as well!
This year's Membership Exhibition is a celebration of the MAC's fifteenth anniversary. Since its inception in 1994, The MAC has exhibited work by more than three hundred artists: local, international, established and up-and-coming, in all media.
Drop Off Dates & Deadlines
Drop off dates are Friday July 24th from 11am to 9pm and Saturday July 25th 11am to 9pm. All entries must be received no later than Saturday. Please note that The MAC will be closed from June 29th to July 14th.
PICK UP DATES, AFTER EXHIBITION CLOSE ARE:MON, AUGUST 31, 11am - 9pm and TUES, SEPT 1, 11am - 9pmplease help us by not missing these pick up dates! Briefly, eligibility requirements are that all persons with memberships valid through September 2009 are eligible to submit a work. Entrants must be or become members of the McKinney Avenue Contemporary at the time of submission. Membership applications and information about Membership Benefits can be acquired at the MAC - 3120 McKinney Avenue, Dallas, TX 75204 or www.the-mac.org. A One (1) Year Artist/Student Membership is still $30.
Each member/artist can submit only one (1) work either visual, performance art or literary reading, but could also participate in one (1) collaborative work.
Visual Art (2-D, 3-D and Electronic Media) cannot exceed 2 feet in any dimension and must be ready to hang or install on date of delivery. Please label piece with first and last names, title, media and indication of top if necessary on the back.
Performance Art and Literary Readings will be presented during the opening reception on August 1st.
Collaborative Works in the New Works Space will be considered but please contact us to obtain the criteria for participation and guidelines
The MAC reserves the right to not accept work that does not comply with these requirements and submission guidelines. |
